This is Jasim Sarker. I will tell you in short about myself. I am the person behind the Aurora Van. Finnish Lapland has been my home for more than a decade. As a passionate nature lover i can’t imagine living any other place. In the arctic wilderness every moment feels magic which you can’t describe in words. Life in the arctic north has been a blessing from the very beginning of my journey. Every moment of the day or night feels like a life in the fairytale land where you can live your peaceful moments with the nature. My journey with Aurora begun some 12 years ago while i was studying in the University of Lapland. Many times i have witnessed the magical northern lights while i was walking home. Been working as a communication professional in my early career, photography was my big passion for many years. I had film cameras, digital cameras and now the modern DSLR’s. I remember the Japanese Yashica film cameras during my high school time. I guess this was one reason to start falling in love with Japan. At some point during my high school time i had actually plan to move to Japan for higher studies. But that didn’t happen yet. Anyways, photography with that camera was so thrilling to see the moments of life captured in a film. Another struggle was to develop them and then see what was captured in reality. Later cameras, phone cameras became more better. First digital Sony cameras were also another friend who stayed for several years. Life with the photography continued as a hobby and thousands of pictures taken every time.
The Aurora Hunter
Most of them are just history and disappeared because of the storage/disk crash or lost. I guess i’ve got my first DSLR camera in 2014 while i had still Sony digital camera. I was also using Sony A6000 which i had borrowed from one of my friend. My own camera journey continued with Canon 6D with a canon 24-70 is usm f4 lens. I still have this camera and many of my Aurora pictures and all taken with the same camera. Aurora hunting and photographing the arctic life, nature, landscape has been a big hobby or more or less only hobby since then. Sorry for the long text. I think i should write blogs regularly.
Two years ago i have decided to continue my passion for the Aurora hunting and offering the chance to other people to experience the magic. As a private entrepreneur, I have started Aurora hunting tour for small groups and sharing my experience with them. It was in small scale and learned a lot from a entrepreneur’s perspective. I don’t have business skills like many of you have but i thought to share my passion the Aurora hunting with everyone with Aurora hunting. I do personally spent a lot of time during almost every night in the outdoor in the darkness, cold and freezing weather wondering the sky, nature. Every time i am excited in the same way like i’ve seen the lights for the first time. Come to join experience the magical show. See you in the Arctic circle!
